E-BARQResearch Portal

Task

As project that initially started as a research study for PhD student, we were engaged through the University of Sydney to Scope, Design and Build a website that would become an Equine Behaviour Assessment and Research Questionnaire (E-BARQ), investigating how horse training and management interact with behaviour.

Outcome

This was a very interesting project that evolved from a proof of concept, to what is now a refined user portal with some great features and an ever growing customer base. The website enables horse owners to register on the site with a personal account, and within that account they can then upload valuable information around their horses. This data is then collated and results are shared with the user via some comprehensive graphing, giving horse owners an insight into how their horses’ are tracking for health, welfare and many other statistics.

Some of the great features of this website and user portal include, custom graphing for individual horses, automated reminder emails when it is time to complete a new survey, the ability to create groups (such as riding clubs, specific stables etc.) to compare your horse with the rest of the group, and multilingual translations as this research portal has now expanded into over a dozen countries… and this is just naming a few of the great features!

We are very proud of this website, which has become a truly useful tool in helping with the welfare and management of our Equine friends around the world, as well as for establishing a great partnership with a client that we’ve been working with since 2019.
